General

What type of guitar would you like? Hollow body [] Semi-hollow [] Solid[] Examples: Les Paul Gretsch Strat, Telecaster Very generally, hollow bodies have a more mellow sound, although Keith Richards is a example to the contrary. Solid bodies have a “brighter” sound, suitable for a lot of country and rock sounds, although players such as Bonamassa and Clapton have made pretty good careers playing blues on a Strat. Semi-hollows fall in the middle. These brief categories are very over-simplified. Much of a guitar’s final tone depends on the pickups, amps, effects boxes, and most importantly, the player.
